They are a powerful purification tool for antibodies, proteins, and other molecules and can be filled with chromatographic media for immunoaffinity, ion exchange, gel filtration, and reversed-phase separation mechanisms, as required. Medium-pressure chromatographic columns are suitable for liquid-phase cleaning systems (e.g. ÄKTA cleaners) and can also be connected to syringes or peristaltic pumps.
